The UN, in partnership with the government and people of Sri Lanka, works to ensure that all Sri Lankan people enjoy better living conditions. Collectively and through the 15 Specialized Agencies, Funds, and Programmes that are resident in Sri Lanka, the UN cares and creates opportunities for the poor, the most vulnerable, and for the young. While each of these individual agencies specializes in different areas of development, they cooperate closely to ensure that the needs of all are covered.
The UN not only works hand—in-glove with the government, but also with a range of partners who cover every aspect of human activity in Sri Lanka. These include international financial institutions such as the World Bank, other bilateral donors, Sri Lanka’s vibrant civil society, private enterprise, and the broad NGO community. |
