UNAIDS Sri Lanka works through the UN Joint Team on AIDS which is made up of a focal point from each of the following agencies; UNFPA, UNHCR, UNDP, FAO, WFP, IOM, UNICEF, ILO, World Bank, ADB, WHO, UNV, UNODC, UNDP Regional Centre the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.
The UNAIDS Secretariat provides overall coordination to the UN system’s work on HIV/AIDS and facilitates communication among the government, civil society, the private sector and the UN. The Secretariat provides technical support to the government and other partners, disseminating the latest information on the epidemic.
Recent support through UNAIDS and the UN Joint Team on AIDS has facilitated the development of the governments National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS 2007-2011 and the UN Joint Team on AIDS has developed an Integrated Support Plan in support of the governments National Strategic Plan.
