UNDP Sri Lanka encourages the government to achieve these targets by supporting the government's agenda and objectives outlined in the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) in UNDP practice areas of;

- Energy, Environment and Disaster Risk Management
UNDP has helped successive governments chart Sri Lanka’s social and economic progress for almost four decades. Since it began operations in 1967, UNDP Sri Lanka has provided aid in the form of grants, expert advice and modern equipment to the country’s main sectors of economic planning and finance, trade and tourism, agriculture and rural development, health, education, as well as to the legislature and the judiciary. It has supported the government in developing strategies to provide access to primary education and basic health services for all.
